MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
The year 2006 marks the 50th anniversary of our young institute.Our vision for ECIT (East China Institute of Technology) is to become the corner stone of an academically effective higher education system dedicated to the development and dissemination of new technology and information.
As a comprehensive educational institution, East China Institute of Technology (Formerly East China Institute of Geology) boasts more than 20,000 students with multiple campuses and 18 faculties in science and liberal arts. Each of our three campuses plays a vital role in preparing our students to incorporate new knowledge and technologies into their daily lives, thereby increasing their competitiveness in an ever-changing environment.
To our great satisfaction, our students have surpassed the boundaries when it comes to their accomplishments. Many of them have become renowned engineers and scientists and some have taken leadership roles in academic, business and government institutions throughout China.
Our success comes from our belief that university is a place students learn to think critically; where students acquire skills in science, technology, ethics, flexibility, and lifelong learning¡ªso that they may continue to learn and adapt to new situations throughout their formal education and beyond.
As much as we emphasize research, we are focusing increasing energies on education. This will remain the commitment of ECIT for the years to come.
As President of East China Institute of Technology, I welcome students from all over the world to come and enjoy a rewarding educational experience that is uniquely ECIT.
